The hang · twenty-eight framesA hang is the order in which pictures are put on a wall, and the word suits this page better than a catalogue would. Twenty-eight women, each with her own room, her own district and her own way of running an evening. Nobody here is a type, and nothing has been arranged to make one woman look like the answer to another.
Read two or three of them properly rather than all of them quickly. The descriptions are written by people who have met them, and the photographs have not been altered beyond light and crop.
Nobody keeps that district tonight. Write to the house and you will be told who is nearest to it.
What is written under each name
Height, build, colouring and age, because those are facts and guests are entitled to them. Then the things that actually decide an evening: what she reads, how she dresses, whether she talks first or waits, what length of booking suits her and which she would rather decline. Where a companion is better over four hours than one, it says so on her page, even when that costs us a booking.
The district under each name
Every companion keeps a home district, and it is the one she genuinely knows: the tables she can get, the rooms that are quiet on a Thursday, the walk that is worth taking in the rain. Three live in Mayfair, three among the squares of Belgravia, three in Knightsbridge and three in Chelsea. The rest are spread across the districts on the attendance list. All of them travel across central London at the same rates.
Choosing, or not choosing
You are welcome to send a name. You are just as welcome to describe the evening and leave the choice to Tamsin, who has met all twenty-eight and will say plainly why she is suggesting the one she suggests. If the woman you want is not free, she says so rather than steering you quietly elsewhere.
What the same figure buys
One ladder covers everybody here, an hour at £250 through to ten hours at £1,800. No woman on this page is dearer than another, and none is cheaper. The figures are on one page and they do not move.
