About the house, and why it keeps its voice down
The house, plainlyThis is a small agency in central London with twenty-eight women on its list and one person answering the messages. It has a proper name on its paperwork and a shorter one that guests use, which is The Quiet House, and the second has outlasted the first because it describes the thing better.
What follows is how it actually works, including the parts that cost us bookings.
Understatement, as a working method
Nothing here is described as exclusive, elite or unrivalled, and no companion is called the best of anything. Those words are free, which is precisely why they are worthless. What we write instead are facts a guest can check: her height, her age, the district she lives in, the length of booking that suits her, the notice a particular table needs.
The same applies to what is said in a message. Tamsin does not oversell a companion who is not right for an evening and does not promise an arrival time she cannot hold. A house that talks quietly has to be accurate, because there is nothing else holding the sentence up.
One ladder, twenty-eight women
Every companion on The Hang is on the same figures, from £250 for an hour to £1,800 for ten hours overnight. Nobody is priced up for being in demand and nobody is discounted for being new. This removes an entire conversation that other houses have to have, and it means the woman Tamsin suggests is the woman she thinks fits, not the one with the better margin on her.

What is refused
Anything explicit, in a message or on the night. Any request to photograph a companion. Any booking where the guest will not give a first name and an address. Any evening a companion has said she does not want, for any reason or none: every woman here has an absolute right of refusal before and during a booking, and exercising it costs her nothing with us.
We also decline bookings we do not think will go well, which happens a few times a month. It is better to lose a fee than to send someone into an evening that was wrong from the first message.
Twelve districts, known properly
We attend twelve central districts rather than claim the whole city. A companion who works Belgravia knows which mews is which at half past ten at night, and one who works St James's knows which door comes out of which theatre. That knowledge takes a while to acquire and cannot be faked in a paragraph, which is why the list on the attendance page is short and is not growing quickly.
What is kept, and what is not
No client list exists. No notes are kept on anyone, no dates are logged against a name, and nothing about a booking is stored once the evening has happened. If a guest asks Tamsin to hold a date for next month she will hold it, and once the month has passed there is no record that it ever happened.
The same discipline applies to our own people. No companion is asked to explain an evening afterwards, and nothing she says about one goes further than the office.
The plain legal part
Guests must be eighteen or over, and so is everyone on this site. Fees are for time and companionship only. This house does not employ its companions and does not direct what happens between two adults in private; it introduces people and arranges the hour, and that is the whole of its part. Anyone who suspects coercion or trafficking anywhere in this trade should report it, and the terms page carries the number for doing so.
